Good Afternoon, I've been away from the tractors just long enough to have forgotten what I had learned.
Yesterday I started the cub to do some mowing. Once it started I moved the throttle and the engine went to full RPM so I shut it off. I figured there was an issues with the governor so I removed it. The caged thrust bearing had come apart. I got a new bearing today and installed it. I was having a hard time getting the governor and the magneto to line up so I removed the magneto and slid the governor in. Then I reinstalled the magneto. After that I bought the engine to TDC on compession on cylinder #1. I opened the distributor cap and the rotor was about halfway between #1 post and #3 post . what have I done wrong and how can I fix it. I cant remember if there are timing marks on the governor gear or not. Im thinking now that the might be.
Thanks for any assistance you can offer

Re: Engine Timing
Hopefully this will help you, you will need to remove the governor and set TDC first (Note the little punch mark on the gear while facing the motor with the governor out is hard to see in the gear, I used a small wire brush to find it)
