Re: CUB C-7 TOOLBAR MEASUREMENTS NEEDED.
Is the C-7 tool bar used with a 185 planter ? I picked up 2 of the "single row planters, this Summer, I was wondering how they would be mounted, I have NO plant able ground (city lot), just thought one might look good behind the Cub at the "Farm Shows" ! What does the side view of the tool bar look like , so I can try to fabricate one , out of 2" sq. tubing, and an extra "spear" that I have !

The bar is solid not tubing, the brace folds under and pins into the hole for where the coulter or hold up hook goes to support it

Re: CUB C-7 TOOLBAR MEASUREMENTS NEEDED.
the brace also doubles as a stand for when you unhook the toolbar

Re: CUB C-7 TOOLBAR MEASUREMENTS NEEDED.
Thanks for your thoughts, IS IT USED WITH A #185 IH planter mounted on a "fast hitch " Cub ? I never owned a Cub planter, maybe I shouldn't have bought these two , but they appear to be used very little with over 90% of the original paint ! Is it 2" solid sq. , it appears the mounting brackets on the planters would need at least 2" Sq. stock , maybe for my show application that "heavy walled" tubular stock , I have in the garage ( from the Cat. plant , in town) , might be strong enough ! Re: CUB C-7 TOOLBAR MEASUREMENTS NEEDED.
On a Cub, the 185 was normally used as a single unit with a Fast-Hitch prong and/or brackets that were specific to use with the Cub and 140. The units with clamps like yours were typically used in multiples on bigger tractors. No reason immediately comes to mind why you couldn't use/make a tool bar hitch on a Cub to use your 185s. If they have fertilizer hoppers, two units would probably be too heavy with full hoppers.

Hi Jim, thanks again for your thoughts ! I guess their are "pro's & Con's" with my #185 tool bar mounted planters , at least it is more universal, figure out a tool bar, ( quickly movable for row width) mount it on a Cub and I've seen some very simple "3-point" conversions that were made-up , the best of both worlds, when they are ever resold ! Thanks, Lee Petrie, Joliet, IL.

Re: CUB C-7 TOOLBAR MEASUREMENTS NEEDED.
Here's a thread about conversion of a John Deere Model 71 multi-row planter for use on a Cub Fast Hitch. No reason something similar couldn't be done with the IH 185.

Re: CUB C-7 TOOLBAR MEASUREMENTS NEEDED.
Thanks Don, "that is just what the doctor ordered" , with the tools on hand , my AC-DC Forney stick welder and an extra spear (or two) around, that looks very "do-able" , for my IH 185 planter ! Might even be the "hit" at the farm shows, I attend ! Then it could always be repurposed, for multi-rows, for a larger application ! Truly a "Win-Win" project , thanks again, Lee Petrie, Joliet,IL.
