Assuming you mean engine oil, in summer I would definitely run either SAE 30 or 10w30. In colder weather either SAE 20 (for easier starting), or 10w30.

edit: I used to use SAE 30 summer and SAE 20 in my snow plowing rig for winter, but now use 10W30 the year around rather than changing in the fall.

I use 15/40wt Mobil Delvac in the summer mowing and 10/30wt in the winter. If any heavier usage I run 30wt in the summer.
The 10/30 means it's a 10wt motor oil when it's cold and has the lubricating quality of a 30wt oil when it's hot.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

SAE 30 Wt all year round. Course my Cubs sit indoors out of the weather and in a southerly exposed pole barn so they are kinda warm..... :-)

You will get all kinds of opinions on what weight oil to use but the best advice is to use what you normally use in the majority of your machines .. if it is 10W30 .. then use that .......

If it's kept out side like mine if you use the wrong weight oil you better have another engine ready. Heavy thick cold oil doesn't flow. Many here found that out in the past. Go by the owners manual that's your bible.

Manual works. But would you put better oil in if you could? I use 10w30 synthetic and it started on the coldest days this last winter and worked HARD to plow all the snow we had in Michigan.
