New cub owner, needing some advice

Postby Jere » Tue Jul 05, 2005 3:07 pm

I am a new cub owner, 1950 model. I will be using it mainly for mowing and gardening on my 8 acres in Arkansas. I am in the process of fixing it up I noticed that I have a leak coming from the Hydraulic touch-control and the best I can tell it is the control valve that is leaking. I have the service manual and a gasket and O-ring kit. Can anyone give me any advice on working on the touch-control before I start in on this task? The manual says use a light cup grease when installing the O rings and to install them with a rotating motion, not to push them straight in. What is cup grease? And can I just replace the O-ring on the control valve or once I start the teardown do I need to do the whole unit? Thanks.

Jere - the main thing to remember while inside the touch control unit is to keep everything super clean. There are not that many components so while you are in there why not change all the o rings? Instead of light cup grease just dip the o-rings in hy-tran before installing them.

And welcome to the board.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

My wife says I don't listen to her. - - - - - - - - Or something like that!
