dealer charged me $60 for an idler pulley??
im running the C3 mower on my cub. one of the pullies on the mule drive has a bad bearing. its still useable but its getting loud. the dealer charged me $60 for this part. is this out of reason, or should i tell them i would like a refund, is there a place to get a MUCH better price on this item. i dont care about a $5-10 difference, but if its 1/2 the price yeah i would buy it elsewhere.

As i recall that is a similar pulley to the Mott flail, and 8 or so years ago one of them cost $45 at local auto parts store. It was a Fafnir bearing and pulley assembly.

For real. You went to a dealer for an old obsolete part. I'd say you're lucky that he minded to get or had the pulley. What did you expect, a discount?
Do you want to go to a physical store and buy it? Then I take the old one with me and check TSC, industrial supply place, auto parts place, etc.
If I'm ordering it, then I check TM Tractor, DE Farmall, Steiner, Hamilton Bob's, eBay, etc.
Caveat Emptor !

Re: dealer charged me $60 for an idler pulley??
as long as that is a reasonable price. if you paid $40 8 years ago, i dont mind paying $60. it keeps the dealers desire to stock and order parts for our tractors. certian things i will order from them other things i will not. they are fairly good about getting me parts sometimes i go elsewhere simply because of price. i am very much a "local" to them, they are 3 doors down, lol. in fact i drove my cub to the dealer, its not far and i wanted to go for a ride, its probably less then 1/4 mile.

Do you see an equivalent to your pulley listed here? http://www.surpluscenter.com/Pulleys/Idler-Pulleys/

Re: dealer charged me $60 for an idler pulley??
I'm sure you could do better on price, but the convenience of being able to drive to Lamb & Webster's or Bookmiller's, only a few miles away, and get the part the same day, is huge if your mower is down.
