Belly mower identification
I've located a local sale of a Farmall belly mower. However, the owner does not know the model. I would be greatly appreciative if someone could look at this CL ad and identify this mover deck. Also, I need to know if it would fit on my 1961 cub Loboy. The ad is here: http://jacksonville.craigslist.org/grd/4567609934.html

Re: Belly mower identification
Well I'd say it looks like this.... http://www.cleancomputes.com/Cub/OEM%20 ... 0Mower.htm
It also appears to be missing some essentials like the mule drive, and the drive pulley for the PTO unless they're not pictured. I'm not real familiar with the 42 Woods mowers but I believe the mule drive determines whether it will work on a Low Boy. What you probably need is this.... http://www.cleancomputes.com/Cub/OEM%20 ... Lo-Boy.pdf a Woods 42 CL5

Re: Belly mower identification
Keep looking. A LoBoy Woods 42 has the rear mounting arms flush with the deck. Angled up like that is for a regular Cub. Add to the list of missing parts Smokeycub has already mentioned; side skids

Be careful... I bought one just like that and it turned out to be for an A. DIdnt hit me until I got home.

I was thinking same thing. Looks like a woods 42, but ad says its 46 inches.

Somebody measured the deck width not the cut.tmays wrote:leerenovations wrote:Be careful... I bought one just like that and it turned out to be for an A. DIdnt hit me until I got home.

Did Woods ever offer the 42 for an A (they don't currently) or was the mounting homemade?

Re: Belly mower identification
Mowers for Lo Boys are very differently 'rigged' than for a Cub. The best way to buy a mower is when it's already on a tractor, so you can see it work and how it attaches. They made far less Lo Boys so the mowers are a bit harder to find, but they are around.
Keep looking....

Yes, the woods 42A (A lot of places listed as a 42A-3) was for the A and Super A. I thought I could enginneer a mount to fit the cub after I found out what it was for. After some time welding up a mount and running the belt, I finally realized that the PTO was the wrong direction to run the overrunning clutch on the mower. ANd I now have a nice belly mower for an A or Super A if I ever get one at a good price.
