cub sickle mower

Postby osomean » Thu Jul 17, 2014 7:00 pm

I have a sickle bar mower that I can't seem to keep working. Seems the pitman arm won't stay attached. Common? Any recommendations?

I assume the clamp end isn't staying on the ball on the knife? How loose is it after you flip the lever to clamp it down? Could be the ball is badly worn or the two "hands" that clamp the ball. Could be something has happened to the spring in the end of the pitman and it's not applying enough force the the lever after it gets clamped.

Here's a page from the Cub 22 manual that show the ball and clamp. (Courtesy of Rudi's Manuals above)http://www.cleancomputes.com/Cub/Cub%20Implement%20Manuals/Cub-22%20Mower%202-5-52/Page-07.jpg

And here's a link to the whole manual;http://www.cleancomputes.com/Cub/Cub%20Implement%20Manuals/Cub-22%20Mower%202-5-52/Cub-22%20Mower%202-5-52.htm

I had to make the pitman arm myself. I possibly may not have the end on right. Anyone have a picture of the end that connects to the ball?

There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.
