I can FEEL the LOVE!

Rudi is right about thanking a VET. I know he spent a long time in the CF. Being one myself, I tend to salute the flag more than wave it.... but I do know we have made sacrifices that the ordinary citizen hasn't and it does give us a greater appreciation for what we have and our freedoms. We are indeed lucky to have been born in one of the two greatest nations in the world.

By the way... you can see Canada from the hospital I was born in... so I guess I have always considered myself a wee bit of a Canadian (or at least a Tim Horton's fan). And if you are a trivia fan.... bet you didn't know that some of the US is actually NORTH of Canada (where I was born is straight WEST of the border).... figure that one out!

A lot of Maine is north of us here in southwest NS.
Take a little time to play, you don't grow old as fast that way.

Northerly..... but not NORTH. MoTown is really north of a small chunk of Ontario. That is the real trivia question... what major US city is north of Canada.

The this is the Detroit River (seems they were not allowed to breach Canadian airspace when photographing??) and you can see the Ambassador Bridge goes SE into Windsor (like a breath of fresh air or another planet after leaving Detroit) The dark rectangle on the river below the city/bridge is what used to be the famous Ford River Rouge Plant.

That terraserver web site is very cool.... worth a look. (I think they have topos of Canada??)

By the way, I rode a bicycle AROUND Nova Scotia.... 1300 miles! But I was a bit younger then and had more vacation time.

Rouge is still alive and well, although not to the extent it was when Henry dumped raw materials in one end and spanking new Fords rolled out the other. Ford assembles crew and extended cab (4 door) F-150 and Lincoln Mark LT trucks there now. After about a 20 year hiatus, assembly line tours are once again available to the public. You gotta pay for the tour but well worth the time and expense.

I thought Ford sold almost all of it off.

Both my Grandfathers worked for Ford Rouge (welder and welding inspector), as did at least one grandmother (or was it GM that made bombers at Willow run?) and my mother. Both my Grandfathers had met Henry also. My parents lived close by the Rouge plant and were next door neighbors.
I toured the line a few times and I think they made 'real' mustangs last time I went through.

Funny, but I always prefered GM or Chrysler products.... and the last Ford before I bought the F250 was a 64 Comet wagon.. Then again my 95 and 86 don't keep Ford rolling anyway.

Larry:

Now I am curious -- to me the answer would be Detroit - but then that can't be right cause Detroit is just a suburb of Windosr isn't it :?: :?:

As for the pic at terra server - I sent off an email asking about decent Canadian Sat shots - apparently they do not have a partner yet who can supply them with suitable pics. Very little is available - I cannot even get a sat shot of my city - nevermind my corner pegs....

I think that is why it is whited out.... got something to do with proprietary regulations and such.

Rudi, I just read about the cool application that Google has. Apparently worldwide coverage with fly-over capabilities to anywhere else in the world.

It is at maps.google.com.
