gear shift replacement

Postby crank start » Sat Jul 05, 2014 8:11 pm

The gear shift lever broke off on my '51 cub. I can see by the parts blowup that the Guide has to come off from the bottom of the shift lever housing but cannot see how it comes off. Help :?

It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something.

Thanks barnyard, don't believe I would have thought of this method on my own!

For anyone who is unfortunate to have the gear shift lever break off in their hand I can report that the method of removing the guide Barnyard supplied worked....but you want to bring a screw down clamp and a big hammer with you.

I want credit to go where it belongs. I only supplied the link to this article. The late George Willer came up with this great idea and wrote the article. George contributed much help to us during his life and it is great that he continues to do so after his passing.

Glad it worked for you.
