Postby PQuanah » Fri Jun 13, 2014 5:14 pm

I have just purchased a (according to the numbers) 1949 McCormick Farmall Cub. Is SAE-30 the correct oil to use or not ?

Will work. Use what every oil your are happy with.

I buy oil by case lots. I use the same oil in all my machines. Makes things much simpler.

Edit. I wouldn't go with the 5W? or synthetic oils in an older engine.

And welcome.
I have an excuse. CRS.

I used mobile 1 full synthetic oil and I had no problem with the tractor starting in. -30F weather. And it's good with extreme high temps too. Yes you may get some oil drips but engine protection is way higher than 30 weight oil quoted in the original manual.

I'm glad someone started this, saved me searching the archives. I use the Rotella 15-40 in my bike and other tractor, good to know it will be ok in the Cub as well.
