Identify belly mower on Cub

Postby littleguns » Sat May 31, 2014 3:32 pm

I just bought a Cub with a 42-inch belly mower. No identifying stamps, decals, etc. It has an eight-sided deck; spindle attaches with three horizontal bolts in a triangle (V) pattern, which should show in the pictures. I'd like to know the manufacturer in case I need parts, blades, belt, etc. Can any Cub experts help? Thanks.

I have this one. The blades weigh about 15 lbs. a piece. They look like they are related.

Since it doesn't have an overrunning clutch it is either a Woods 42C-1 or a Woods 42C-2 depending on what type of blades it has. Fixed is a -1 swinging is -2. On page 8 of Eugene's link there is a chart at the top of the page that will tell you which column of parts (A or B) used with your mower.

Looks to me like a homemade replacement deck for the same mower depending on which type of blades you have as well.

I use it for a bush hog. I leave the belt a little lose just incase I hit something solid. It will go 3foot high field.

I'd call that a 42C-1 with welded fin blades.

The belt is the same for the Woods 42C-1,2,3, & 4 IF you have the correct pulley and mule drive (note the big IF :D  ). It's a Woods 1469 which is a 5/8 x 136" belt.

You may want to string up a length of thick rope through your pulleys and see what the length is. If it's close to the specified belt length, you should be ok (assuming you have enough adjustment at your mule drive). If it's way off, that will help you find what belt will work for you.

need to identify belly mower. Octagon shape with blades that have a slotted bolt for breakaway. also has a side discharge shoot on the right side with a hood welded to top of deck. The pulley has 3 bolts on perimeter and 1 in the center with 3 unused holes on the perimeter as well. I need to find a set of blades.. Thanks for your help.

Posting a photo would probably help more than a description.
