Got Loboy ready for parade, Running great , then a little ruff then started to cough and quit.
Started checking and found oil running out of the distributor. Never dealt with this problem.
After pulling the distributor, what seals are needed? Or is there more to my problem?

Re: Help! Ignition drowned
You need the seal between the governor and the distributor, national part # is 450313, maybe oil got on the points and burned them up ?, even leaking oil it should still run, you might have another issue as far as stalling/dying out

Re: Help! Ignition drowned
Thanks, Tim. Was not sure what I was getting into.
Have removed a distributor to time one before but
no deeper . Thanks for the part #. Will try to pick
up one in the AM.
Will replace points & condenser to be on the
safe side.

Don't forget that that seal needs to be installed to a specific depth.

Re: Help! Ignition drowned
I have found that the old seal can be removed (not always easily) by using a slide hammer style dent puller. Drill 3 or more holes in the face of the seal, and sometimes a good idea to go all the way through the back side also, then screw the slide hammer into the hole and hit it a few times, then move to another hole, etc. Be patient and keep going around the circle, they are usually stuck pretty tight.

Let us know how much fun you have getting that seal out, and even more so, getting the new one in. What a bear. Don't use your profanity allotment up all in one place.
