More Red Cub with White Hood

Postby tst » Thu May 22, 2014 3:56 pm

Picked up a couple of square nose cubs, one is 77 and the other a 1963 square nose red cub with white hood, not a 64, bought it from the original owner, has not been used since 1993,serial # 222818, he told me him and his dad went to the IH dealer summer of 63 and this ,was on the show room floor and bought it on the spot, came with the owners manual dated 8/63 it is 6 volt, not 12 volt, I also have a all red 63 square nose, serial # 222707 that I bought a few years back from the original owner, these both came from South Jersey and turns out they came from the same IH Dealer, these are only 111 apart on the production line so I think this shows the transition to the white hoods had started back in 63, both tractors have the same patent decals for USA and Canada, both tractors are factory, have not been painted, and the other thing is it even has the white seat, the picture of the red cub just shows they are the same except for hood color

I am sure that this has been discussed before, but I have a question about square nose colors. I realize that you could get a cub in any color, but Is there a color pattern or spec for each year. I am talking about yellow or white doglegs and yellow or white wheel centers for instance. I don't see a pattern from year to year.

Tim, looks like overspray on the SN tag. You sure it hasn't been painted? I already have that one in the database as not being original paint.

If it has been painted its very old, the owner told me he bought it from the dealer with the white hood
