Cub Sidedresser
First time for me here. My neighbor and I bought a nice 1953 cub and we have been acquiring Sidedresser parts. We are in the stage of mounting the sidedresser but can not find any photos or diagrams on how to run the chain from the countershaft to the rear wheel drive gear. There are two other small gears in between that seem to act as an idler for the chain. We have the spring but are not sure how it attaches. If someone has a working unit and could post a couple pictures of that rear chain hookup it would be greatly appreciated. If anyone can direct me to a site where pictures or are already posted that would be great also. Thanks, Max

Re: Cub Sidedresser
Max, Welcome to the Forum. I don't have a side dresser so I can't furnish photos. However, if you click on "PDF Manuals" in the tool bar, and then on "Cub attachments", you can find a bunch of manuals that may show what you need. Someone else will come along with better information too.

Re: Cub Sidedresser
Thanks Bob. I have checked into that but they just show the parts and not how the chain follows through the sprockets or where the spring attaches. Really hoping someone has a photo of one that is hooked up and working. We are hooked on this cub and really want to make the sidedresser work. My dad had one when I was about 10 through 16 years old. It was sold. Now at 57 it is like great memories with another cub project.

Re: Cub Sidedresser
Bob, I was wrong. The PDF's were different than what I have been seeing. They show how the chain and spring are hooked up.. You made my day. Thanks so much for the advice. Will be hooking it up in the morning. Have a good week. Max

Max, if you and Jim are free May 30th and 31st feel free to drive down to the Cincinnati area for the Barnyard Bash CubFest. Many of the forum members will be here to enjoy the fun. It is a great time and place to learn much about Cubs from the folks who know. The best part is, it's free. Even good old Bob is driving in from Colorado. Check it out at http://www.barnyardbash.com
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.
