gas cap leak
When I fill my tank to almost full and put on the gas cap, gas oozes out from under the cap onto my hood when the Cub is in motion and the gas is sloshing around. Tried adding second gasket on the cap, but the same thing happens. Tried one of the new, high gas cap......same thing. What's wrong? How can I stop the leak?

Probably the tank inlet is bent out of its original shape where the cap fits on it. There was a discussion a few months back about a tool that re-forms the filler neck back to original. You might do a search for the posting or better yet somebody here will remember and post about it.
Then came Bronson

Your gas tank leak has been distorted such that the lip is no longer level to allow the gasket to seat. i have a W6 with that problem, and need a tool badly to fix it. Case IH dealers used to have a tool to repair that problem, but I haven't located one. there's talk of making one on the board, but i'm unsure as to how that might be progressing

Joey wrote:I did a search as johnbron suggested, and found the thread about the gas tank lip reforming tool. John Niekamp was going to try and make a tool based on photos (and drawings ) and offer it for use. Any luck on making the tool, John? Has anyone found one at their Case IH dealer?
I am the guilty one. John Puckett sent me a top out of a tank and someone else sent me pictures and a good drawing, but in the meantime I got busy and bought another Cub and redone it and I have never got back on the reforming tool. My plans as are as you read. I want to make two of them and donate them to FarmallCub.com. menbers. I want one to go up to Rudi in Canada for our Canadian friends and one down here in the states. I need to repair my 55 LoBoy lip and that is what stated all of this.
My time has been somewhat limted and I haven't had the time to go in to the shop after hours to program and setup the CNC lathe to get this little task started, but maybe in the next couple of weeks after I get back from vacation, I will get a prototype made for folks to try out.
Sorry for sitting on my hind end, I haves not been forgotton, just moved to the far back burner.
