International belly mower - info?

Postby kjoiner » Sun Mar 30, 2014 4:06 pm

Hello,

I cleaned some of the dirt off the belly mower that is on my Cub and found an international sticker and ID number 02-U-1111. We used it about 20 years ago to clear some brush etc. before we repainted the Cub. Now that I've got the Cub running, I'm planning to clean it up, paint it and hook it back up under the Cub. Does anyone have info on this mower deck?

Thanks,

Kyle

Hello,

Here are a couple of pictures of the mower. Sorry about the blur on the underside photo - I was balancing it with one hand and taking the picture with the other. :)

That's an IH C-2 Mower. Lots around and a good mower.

Yep to what Bob said. Are you sure that 02-U-1111 isn't actually C2-U-1111?
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Hello,

You're right, it's a C2. The label is kind of scratched up and I thought the "C" was a "0". I'm going to clean it up and repaint it and try to put it back to work.

Be mighty appreciative if you'd point me towards a good one if you run across one and don't want it for yourself. I'm not having much luck finding one other than on ebay and I'm reluctant to go that route.

I finally got the mower cleaned up, repainted and back under the Cub. Here are a few pictures:

Getting it back under the tractor was kind of a pain and I had to drive over it since it won't slide in from the front or side. Has anyone created any ramps to drive over the mower?

Nice cub and mower!
When I take my deck off or put it back on, I take the c-channels off and slide the deck under the tractor from the side. With the front wheels turned, it just barely fits. If your rear tires aren't over sized, it should work for you too.

Somebody a while back posted that they placed cement blocks in a rectangle. Placed boards between two pairs. Used a set of ramps to drive up and across the boards so that the cub was sitting on the cement blocks. Removed the boards . Lowered the deck. Disconnected it. Replaced the boards and backed down the ramps.
Sounded good to me, but I've never tried it.

Taking off my woods 42, I disconnect everything with the mower sitting loose under the Cub. I lay a 4x4 block about a foot long beside the left front of the mower. I turn the steering wheel and back the right front wheel up onto the deck, across it, and off the backside. The left front wheel stays on the ground. I do it on dirt so the mower won't skid around. Installation is just reversing the steps. The mower decks are more than heavy enough to hold up a corner of a Cub :D .

Now, that is an interesting way to raise and lower the mower. :) Your Cub and mower both look great.

Was noticing that as well. At first glance, the chain appears to just disappear.
