Cultivator Shield Restoration Project

Got started on a simple little project that I can do indoors. I'll post the rest of this project within this singular post.

I got all the parts blasted and ready for paint. The shields had some dents and curvature which I removed with a little metal bumping practice.
The shields have been painted with a brush. Here is my logic to that. - Thicker coat and it's still windy and cold outside to spray. So far I'm pretty pleased with the result. If you painted parts with a brush before let me know how you liked the finished outcome. This will determine if I buy spray blue or a quart of IH Blue.

Here's some pix from today.

I need two of these bushings. Or I will need to make them.

1/2 hour in the dirt and the shields will be down to metal again....Always wonder if powder coat or an epoxy paint would work better....Looks great anyways....Wish spring would get here.!!!!!!Kevin

Ken, I was just on Messick's website looking for something else. The part# for the "pivot link bushing" is 512836R1. They show a price of $4.56, with none is stock. It may or may not still be available.

These seem to be coming out pretty good. The advice on paint I received from this forum was of course awesome.

The lighting and paint is making the slight dents in these shields look MUCH worse than they really are. :D

Delivered these back to the farm! Dad was pretty glad to see them all fixed up. On the tailgate is our new/used Cultivator Shank. Dad did not know that these existed for the Cub. He has one in his car so he can pick-up some sweeps..... :D :D :D

By the way - the home in the background was built in 1799. We've got some photos of my Great, Great Grandfather in his Civil War Uniform standing by the door in the front of the house. Dad was born in this house in 1919.

Would like to see the Picts of your GGG Grandfather in his uniform. Bet he would be impressed with the shape the old house is in.
I always paint blue with a brush. Gonna get beat up anyway. Your parts look real good.
