Hello,

I have been hanging around the site for the last few months trying to learn as much as possible before buying a tractor.

Last weekend I bought a Lo Boy with a 42C mower and a L-54 blade. The seller said it is a '61 but the casting number on the block is 3-22-H so it may be a '62.

My nephew and I drove it around some and everything seems to work fine. Right now I am checking everything over and changing fluids. We plan on using it for mowing and snow.

Gary

Gary, Welcome to the Forum. As you're changing fluids, I'd suggest checking the Owner/operator's manual in the manuals section of the tool bar above. There are some oddball places on a Cub that need attention, ie the fan hub, throw out bearing, generator, etc. If you have any questions or problems, we're here to help.

Bob, I just found the owners manual tonight. I wish I had read it before I changed the oil since it explains how to clean the filter housing.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. The digital photos seem to hide some of the past fifty years wear and tear but for the age I think it is in pretty good shape. I do have a new seat on the way and I will probably try to get the lights working but other than that I think I will leave it as is for now.

That's a nice looking Loboy. Check your calendar for the Friday and Saturday after Memorial Day. We are having our annual CubFest just west of Cincinnati (4 1/2 hours from you). There will be a lot of the forum members here. It is a great time to learn a lot about Cubs as well as have a good time in general. More info here www.barnyardbash.com
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.
