New 1953 Owner

Postby bill schultz » Sun Mar 09, 2014 11:15 am

Hi out there!
This is one of those new owner posts. I just got a 1953 Farmall Cub. I couldn't find a PDF Manual for 1953, so I printed out the 1954 Operator's Manual. Is there much difference between a 1953 and a 1954? Also on the plate with the serial number, it says "Model F Cub." Does the "F" stand for Farmall? Finally, is anyone aware of any workshops out there for first time owners who want to learn about maintenance and/or restoration?
Thanks for organizing this website. Makes me thankful for the Internet.

Welcome.

Owner's manual is the same. F stands for Farmall.

Checks some of the later year Owner's manuals. They have more electrical wiring diagrams.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Bill, Welcome to the forum. You have landed on the absolute best site for Cub information. The manual you printed will be fine for you. The F is for Farmall, later Cubs were Internationals. As for workshops, you definitely came to the right place. We call them CubFests and so far we have about ten scheduled for the rest of the year with more to be added. Here is the link to the schedule viewtopic.php?f=19&t=81945

Here is the link to my CubFest to give you an idea as to what goes on at a fest. http://www.barnyardbash.com
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Welcome to the forum. I also own a 53 and when I bought it, I bought a parts manual, service manual, and operators manual. You can learn a lot from these.

p.s. To those friends of mine who were wondering what this old geezer is doing buying his first tractor, I simply said, "I am too old for a motorcycle, can't afford a sportscar and really need to fix something up that I can ride in the open air!
