According to the serial number on the tag (16812) I originally thought I owned a 1948 Cub, but after close examination here is the information off my Cub. To make matters even more interesting, the floor board and pedals were once painted yellow!

Right Final-

As I posted in your other thread, your axle extension and transmission are actually "Q" codes. Your torque tube being from a '66 tractor would explain the yellow pedals and floor board, as nearly all '66 models were painted yellow from the factory and its easier to change them all as an assembly than removing them from the torque tube.

Thanks for the information, I'll get your data added for the next entry! :D

Raymond,
I'm just getting the last of the numbers together but I had some trouble locating the casting # for the touch control. However, I did find a flat spot just behind the hydraulic tubes on the left side of the touch control that had "2 79" stamped on it. What would that be? The other 79's in the data base don't list the casting number like that.

that flat spot is just above where the lines come out of the touch control.

Are there any numbers cast into the right side of the block? Its not abnormal for the late model castings to be non-standard.

Getting back to you a little late, but I have an answer for what the above number is. Its actually the transmission PN, stamped into the housing after IH ground off the original PN. Only the last of the Cubs had this done. There should be a "R1" stamped in there somewhere.

I've looked back through the database, and Im gonna go out on a limb and say the "2 79" is the date code.

Raymond,

Came across this cub at Thomas Point Beach in Brunswick, ME while there for the Bluegrass Festival. Sorry I couldn't get more info, my daughter was too anxious to get to the playground!

S/N 226091J
Engine S/N FCUBM249174, date code of 6/7/L
TC date code of (blank)/8/L

Not 100% on the engine S/N or the casting codes as it looks like its seen some time out doors...

Okay, Raymond,
I have all but 3 numbers. The cylinder head, and touch control casting numbers I couldn't find but I've got everything else.

Tractor serial # 253431
Engine serial # 325698
Engine casting # 11-22-B
Engine block # 251341R8
Cylinder head casting # (can't find)
Bolster casting # 11-13-B
Torque tube casting # 12-6-B
Transmission part # 453597R1
Transmission casting # 2-9-C
Axle extension casting # 11-30-B
Left final casting # 11-8-C
Right final casting # 11-8-C
Touch control casting # (can't find) there is a small flat spot (like the engine serial # spot) on the left side of the touch control just above where the hydraulic lines are attached that reads " 2 79" not sure what that's all about.
Touch control part # (can't find)

Hello Raymond! I have a "new" cub to add to the database! Bought it about a month ago, and am cleaning it up, converting it to 12v, and getting it in shape to do some mowing next year. It is in VERY good condition; quite pleased with him..."BEN" ! :big smile:

Tractor Year 1955
Tractor Serial Number 191146J
Engine Serial Number 195925
Notes Converting it to 12v at this time (Nov. 2014)
Eng Casting # 5-25-A
Eng Block Part # 251341R7
Cylinder Head Casting # 5-20-A
Bolster Casting # 5-31-A
Torque Tube Casting # 5-19-A
Trans Part # 351530R6
Trans Casting # 4-22-A
Axle Extn Casting # 5-16-A
Left Final Casting # NO DATE, ONLY ONE "SCREW HEAD", looks like the date fell off before casting!
Right Final Casting # 5-20-A
Touch Control Casting # ?-21-T ?? First number appears to be missing, and the letter is almost under the second "screw head"
Touch Control Part # 354393R1
