Cub piston pin retainer

Postby fl37 » Mon Mar 03, 2014 9:25 pm

I rebuilding my 1948 Cub. Need replacements for the piston pin retainers (#251242R1), the spring clips that hold the wrist pins to the piston. Just want the retainers not the entire piston assembly.
Anyone know of a vendor for these retainers?

I couldn't get much on the Case I/H online parts directory...but I would think a local dealer could order them. I found this site that list the part, but I've never ordered from them so not sure if this will suit your needs or not.

Don't know what problem you were having, they're there. Have to select a dealer for pricing and don't know how accurate it actually is (something I'm going to check the next time I go pickup something) but they show $3.74 each through my dealer.

Years ago picked up some from an in town New Holland dealership. Don't remember the price. But cheaper than postage and handling or driving 60 miles.

Actually might try any local make tractor dealership since most engine parts are manufactured to a standard size.

That part number shows up on Messick's web site at $4.53 each.
