Farmall Cub

Hi,
I found a picture of the crank storage in my original 1955 Farmall Cub brochure. You can see it in the bottom pic. They have it stored facing forward, with the end up by the battery box. Just wondered what you guys thought of it. Have a Good Christmas!

That's an interesting picture. I'll have to try that next time I'm out with a Cub. I'm not sure whether it will stay up with just the two clips on the platform holding it.

NEAT! I've never seen that before. My crank, handmade by "Donny M" has its pins in an offset position so that it can be stored in the bolster without it falling out when using the tractor. As a result, it sits "kitred" in the clamps. Wonder if this position will make that different on mine?

Have never seen that before either. Good observation. On looking closely at image 3, it appears that there is a clip on the battery box front that is holding the vertical leg of the crank. Too bad that It is mostly obscured by the PTO lever.

I keep my crank in the barn, on a shelf. That's in part because a) no clips on my tractor's floor, b) I thought I'd trip on it anyway, and c) I never use it. But in the spirit of restoring the tractor, I'd love to eventually see what it takes to find or make some clips. And I too like that upright position -- less of the crank to trip over!

Dick, TM Tractor carries the clips, but they're closed for the holidays.

Proper restoration may mean leaving the crank and clips off.
