The lug that sticks through the body of the starter that the switch activates shorted through the insulation and melted and will not make contact. I have ordered a heavy duty soldering gun and a new lug. Any advice as to what solder to use and anythng else any one has had success with installing a new lug.

Rosin core only on electronics, no acid core.

Silver solder will work or the Rosin core that was suggested.
