Worn rockshaft hole repair?
At least one of the rockshaft arm holes on my Cubbie is noticeably worn. I suppose the correct repair would be to remove the rockshaft, weld new steel into the hole, and rebore the hole with a big drill or milling machine. Are any less drastic repairs feasible? Some kind of bushing?

Jay, one of the members is working on developing replacement bushings for these. We should hear something from him in the near future.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Which one? Front, rear or helper spring.

Re: Worn rockshaft hole repair?
If it's worn, you might just want to overdrill and put a bushing in it. It won't hurt anything since it's already oblonged the hole, and you can do this while the rockshaft is still on the tractor. Lowes has a good selection of bronze bushings, in the parts bin drawers part of the nuts and bolts isle.. I've used many of them in rebuilding Cub snow blades, just drill out to a common size and insert the bushing.
I've also welded up one front rockshaft while on the tractor for a friend. We put a wet towel over the gas cap on the tractor (to help suppress any gas vapors), then laid a welding blanket over the whole hood/tank and engine. Ground a bare spot on the rockshaft for the grounding clamp, welded the whole up, then drilled out and smoothed the weld. Think it took us about half an hour to do everything.
