Thoughts on Steiner Parts for Cubs

What do you think of the quality of Steiner New Parts examples gaskets, rings, carb. kits, battery boxes, 6 volt lights. Anyone have any experience good or bad?

Took me awhile but I gotta say you can't beat TM...Customer service is tops...USA orientated...Steiner, not so much...IMHO.

I've purchased items on several occasions from Steiner and have always been satisfied with the purchases and service. However, you can't beat the personal service you receive if you do business with TM Tractors (one of our forum sponsors).

I buy Steiner's carb kits .. they are pretty good and have everything one would need and are reasonably priced. I am not sure about the gaskets and such as those I buy from TM Tractor. Those I know are excellent and top quality. New reproduction lights? Well it you want to go repro then Steiner is it, however I would rather buy originals on and restore them - Farmall Cub Headlights. As far as battery boxes, I would not bother with Steiner but got directly to the best on the market as they are about the same price but made of 14 gauge steel like the originals and that would be Norm Quay at Unique Design Workshop. I agree with Rudi on Norm's battery box. You get what you pay for and the other boxes aren't much for what they cost. Norm's boxes will out last many of the after market boxes.

i've used tm and stieners and had great service from both, for lights and battery box's i use oem parts,they also are good to deal with.

Steiners tractor are great for walk-in business. Shipping seems a bit high, but maybe that's because they are close by. You have to know what you want when you walk in there. If it is in the catalog, then they typically have it in stock.
For an aftermarket supplier, their parts 'look' like they might fool the correct police.

All the stuff I have gotten from Steiner has been good, did have an issue with a coil cover on a H4 mag once, but that's not Cub related.....I got a Super A battery box from them a while back and the quality was better than the one I got from OEM years ago.

ALWAYS have had good luck with TM. The only issue I have ever had is when they are closed and I need something. Also some of the goodies they used to have, they no longer stock.

A LOT of reproduction/aftermarket stuff comes from the same factory, regardless of who you buy it from.

I like TM a lot. I also get a lot from OEM since they are only 20 mins away, I can call and pick it up next day on most things. Last order it was 2 weeks because they were back logged in the shop making battery boxes. I order 3 boxes and lights, they had all but 2 of the boxes ready. Steiner, I have ordered from and it all seems to be ok. Gauges and such seem a little over priced since they come from India? At least the last ones I got were not the best of quality.

All are good, some have more desirable parts than others so I always shop around and find the better product. I like to fix things once and be done.

I once bought a carb kit from them and it wasn't all there even though the parts list said it was. I call them and they said they couldn't or wouldn't do anything about it.
Needless to say (read between the lines) I can no longer order from them, which is fine with me. There are a lot better places to order.

Some of the items listed are available at your local auto parts store. If this is for the FFA or Ag Power Class, you can probably get some very good prices with a school purchase voucher.

I bought a head gasket, valves and gaskets from TM last year and decided to do a complete engine rebuild this year. The complete engine gasket kit and engine bearings came from Steiner this time. The head gasket and valve valve grind gaskets are the same brand as TM. Pistons and rings came from Yesterday's Tractors. I bought parts from Steiner for several different tractors without a problem. TM has very fast service, made in USA parts and sometimes ships the same day ordered. We're lucky to have several good options for these old machines.

Ditto to what Eugene said about buying basic tune-up parts locally, I'm sure you're on a budget, and saving on shipping is a plus. For what you can't get at the local parts house, I recommend TM because they give back to the forum.
