Farmall Cub

I consider myself a reasonably smart individual but every time I try to understand the wheel spacing diagram I end up confused, frustrated, and angry. I've even tried crossing my eyes to see if the picture would magically appear (never could see those things!). Finally sat down and figured out what was giving me a problem and made up my own chart. So here's my take on wheel spacing for my 1,000th post.
(I suppose there is a way to get the actual spreadsheet to show but I'm enjoying my intelectual triumph and really trying to avoid a fast spiral back to confused, frustrated, and angry.)

It is a matter of weather the bolt loops are in the inner or outer edge, of the rim, and bolted to the inner or outer side of the center. Tread has to point the right way, too. Each position, is a 2 inch difference.

People's brains process spatial relationships differently. Some people do pictures. Some do words.

To me the diagram in the manual is crystal clear, and your spreadsheet is slightly confusing.

Peoples brains are wired differently that is for sure. I am both a written and a visual learner... however Jeff ya done good cause I really do understand "inboard" and "outboard" .. almost like "port" and "starboard"

The next step is to have individuals post why they use the various width settings.

40" tread width on the '53 for the sickle mower.
44" tread width on the '67 because the fast hitch depth control won't fit otherwise.

You can fit the most Cubs in a given area with the 40" tread width. Certain individuals in this group can certainly attest to that.

I use the narrow setting so the tires are inside the cut of the Woods and the snow blade.

It all depends on what you plan on doing with the Cub. For me the preferred position on a mowing tractor is wide spacing for stability on hills and slopes. You also need them spaced wide for plowing. Narrow is better for snow plowing and storage. I would guess it makes a difference on the turning radius too.
