They're Multiplyin' On Me...

Bad news is Gary Bailey is out of the Farmall Cub business...

Gary just hasn't had any time the last year or so, two young boys and a busy landscaping business keep the man covered up. His wife's grandfather passed recently and Gary will be inheriting a couple nice older original Cub Cadets that he's had his eye on for years and didn't have space for them.

Good news...I've got another '49. Gary had a lot done on it, and still had quite a bit to do. Gary done an outstanding job on the sheetmetal, though the rest of the tractor will need repainted and receive all the details like I want to see on one that has my name. I wanted one from early '49, just because it has the "McCormick Deering" logo that I just love, and I really thought it would be nice to have a nice painted up Cub to go alongside my "MI", but have not intention of ever, ever painting "Otis". I also inherited from Gary his issues with the grill not fitting right LOL. I'll fix that, but tossing it on the shelf and reusing the original grille. Lots of little things to do that should keep me busy for most of the winter. Still looking to buy the F-12 I've got my eyes on, though my "F12 Fund" was robbed of a bit of it's equity...

I think "Millie" and the (3) Deere's are starting to feel cramped, though "Otis" now has a stablemate...and Daisy", well...she's lookin for home now more than ever...

I sometimes think our Cubs multiply faster than rabbits.

Some have said, you can't have too many.... but I am not sure about that. I still like your yeller one. My red one just sits in the garage and looks pretty.... I should bust it out soon.

Amazing how much difference a painted hood makes. Most people miss the fact that most of my Lo Boy is not painted, till they look closer.

Enjoy your FLEET!

It sure seems like 2's company 3's a crowd does not apply to Cub Fleets. I want more!

Nice looking cubs - congrats!

Ken

Dusti:

Congrats :applause: on getting the '49. Please let Gary know that we think of him and pass along condolences. I guess we will see him on the Cadet forum in time. Nice to know his Cub went to a good home. I still think you need to keep Daisy .. after all she has a name you know

Rudi... I'm still around, just in "super lurker mode".... I have to say with as wet as its been around here this year I haven't had time for anything, family included. And that's not a good thing. But God is good and so has been business. I'm just glad that the cub went literally just down the road! There will definitely another one. I would honestly like get get ahold of a 140 or something a little newer that I could put to work for business use. I've inherited my wife's grandfather's Cub Cadet 149 and Spirit of 76. I do think that my mother-in-law got a little upset when I told her that I sold the '49. Her dad had a '50 demonstrator. He traded it in for the 149. Her dad got a chance to see the '49 when I first got it and it brought back a lot of memories for him. I know Dusti will treat it like it needs to be. It honestly hadn't been started since last winter and was just sitting. I hate to see anything "just sit". I've missed 95% of my oldest son's ball games this spring and summer and if I don't have enough time for him, I definitely can't put a piece of equipment ahead of him right now... At least that's how I feel.

Gary:

You have your priorities in the right place :!: Family is the only thing that is important, the rest is just background noise. Took me a long time to learn that. Owning your own business has it's own set of issues and it can become more demanding than family  Glad there will be another Cub in the future. Enjoy the Cadets :) and enjoy the family :!:

Gary and I are at different stages in life, and I admire him for keeping his priorities straight as best he can. Been there myself. My daughter is entering grad school next month, so I've been through all that before...

The Man Upstairs has been good to this ol' boy too...or else I wouldn't have been able to take it off Gary's hands. It'll be in good hands. Gary you'll be pleased to know it ran really well once I swapped that starter switch out for one that I had "salvaged" from a John Deere I restored a few years ago. The little boy down the road that comes up and hangs out with me in the shop asked me if a Farmall would run with a John Deere part on it :) I explained to him the whole Delco Remy thing...then he was satisfied. I had to order one of those new repo IH mufflers yesterday though...LOL, that loud pipe was killin' me :)

Hoping with a couple late nights to have it in a more presentable condition, ready to make it's public appearance at the Mercer County Fair next weekend alongside the rest of my herd...

be sure to take plenty of pics for me....

You didn't like that custom copper drag pipe? haha. Maybe you can figure something out and use that piece of stainless on a project one day. After I got the hood done there wasn't anyway I could bring myself to cut it up.

Huh? Whaddya say Gary...I can't hear ya' over that short copper exhaust pipe! Bahahaha!

I'll hang on to that stainless...may look sharp on an F-12 or Regular some day :)

The hood and the dash on that tractor is some of the slickest paint I've ever seen...you done an outstanding job. I'll be adding my family history "J.M. Snider IH Dealership" decals to it this weekend...
