Farmall Cub

While mowing with our 1950 Cub, lost the radiator cap. The original cap only had a rubber gasket. Was advised that a low pressure cap could be used (7 lbs). Would this be a problem if this cap is used in lieu of the original type?

Not problem I have a 75 cub that was bought new. I replaced the cap in 1990 with a 7 lb cap. No problem. If you have a TSC store near you they have the exact no pressure cub replacement. I was there two weeks ago buying a belt and found one.$6.99 plus tax. I bought one for a 49 cub I just got running this year. Trying to avoid Murphy"s law.

Probably not. But radiator might spring a leak if getting is thin, old, has weak spots.

Suggest installing the radiator cap to the first notch, not fully tightened down.

I have a pressure cap that came on one of my cubs that has a chunk of about 1/8 of the bottom rubber gasket removed. The little gap keeps it from sealing and allows the pressure to escape.
