OK, lets start with the serial number so we know what year of Cub you have. The tag should be on the right front side. Let us know the number and model information.

Dennis

PS: How did you get a Cub in Zimbabwe?

Here is a section of a web site from one of our sponsors that may be helpful in finding where to look and what to look for. http://www.tmtractor.com/id/id_001.htm

Hi Dennis.
There are a numder of cubs in Zimdabwe, I know of 5. When this country was Rhodesia a lot of cars and tractors were imported from the states in the 1940s and 50s so there is quite a bit of American stuff around. This particular cub I have been chasing for about 15 years. I am collecting it today so will let you know the numbers when I get it. There are so many barn finds still to be found here and so few collectors so life is exciting for us here.
Regards Martin

Martin, fifteen years is a long time to capture a Cub; however, considering where it is that is a rare find indeed. You'll find tons of friendly help here, so when you do "bag" that Cub be sure to ask all the questions you need too.

Martin:

G'day and congrats :applause: to you on finally capturing that Cub. Trapping season seems to be a bit long in Zimbabwe ... :D Glad to have you aboard. I expect that some folks plan for years to acquire their 1st Cub. For me it was a 20 year wait until I found one I could afford.

There are a lot of resources available to our members here, so I would encourage a bit of surfing on the site .. follow the links below:

Image to Farmallcub.com :big smile: Forum Family. And you have come to the right place for all things Cub related. If you click on the Site Rules, Regulations, & Important Information, it will point you to  the Welcome Wagon wherein you will find links to many useful sites and topics. One of which is the Cub Manual Server. Enjoy!.

Please post pics of the Cub when you get it home  :!:

Hi Every one thanks for the wonderfull welcome. I have bagged my cub the serial number is 6317. I guess this would make it a 1947. I will be spending the afternoon cleaning it up.

Welcome to the Forum! Congrats in the Cub. That SN would be a 1947 (Nov '47 to be exact) tractor.
If you would like to provide any more numbers off your tractor, I'll add them to the Cub database. See the link in my signature line for what's been collected so far from the members here.

I have found a few more numbes on the tractor
Engine serial 6234
engine block 251341 R1 9 8 Q
toque tube 351686 R1 9 15 Q
rear axle 350789 R1 6 14 S

the S casting is a later part that was replaced. Each casting has a casting date. I think you mean 350-798 R(2)1 which is the axle extension housing that goes from the transmission to the right final drive. Not a common part to replace.

S was used in 1949 Q is correct for 1947

How long has the tractor not been running?
Could be a number if things. Could you let us know what you've done since you got it?
Does the tractor roll in neutral? Any strange noises when you push the clutch pedal in?
