Knucke set screw removal

I have a 49 cub that has the knuckle set screw broken off flush with the spindle. I saw here where the back side of the spindle has a hole to punch out the remainder of the bolt. Mine does not have the access hole on the opposite side of the spindle. It has a bulge on that side, no hole. Any suggestions? This forum has been a invaluable help in getting this thing back to work after years of sitting. I have a 75 cub also my dad bought new. I thought after all the years I would have known everything. But after following this forum, I feel like I just got my first cub. Thanks, Ray

Hammer, small diameter flat nosed punch. Punch on the bulge and rap punch with hammer.

Is the screw broke off with the arm,

or the spindle?

The spindle should have the hole as you can see in the pics above. You can punch out the broke piece from the opposite side.
If it broke off flush in the arm, take a punch and rap the broke screw. Then take a Dremel tool and cut a notch in the end of the broke screw and use a flat tip screwdriver to try and back out what's left.
