I am restoring a '57 cub loboy and wondering what color white use? Information I've seen looks like a ih off white is like a cream color. Not sure I like that or that that would even be right. A post here early showed a '57 cub loboy restored that looked like a brighter glosser white, and I think that I might like that better. I need some advise. I am new here. Thanks for the help!

IIRC IH was using 901 white in '57. It is less creamy than the 935 white you can get at caseIH. Personally I think that 935 is really too creamy--almost a beige color in the right light--for anything prior to the 66 series in the mid-70s. However if you don't want to fool with trying to have 901 mixed, the 935 paint from caseIH still looks nice!

Guys
This chart confuses me. I have an early 58, same as a 57. The white decal that is found on the hood side panel is very white and the grill and wheels need to match the shade of this vinyl decal. There is no mention on any of the whites used between the 1950 demonstrater and the cub cadet color used in 1967. Do I use the same white as the demonstrater?

I just finished painting a C2 Intl mower in the IH White....It don't look bad but its not white, more of the butter as described ...I saw a demonstrator a while back, it was a much nicer white...Anything freshly painted looks great and once again its a personal choice, unless IH donates the paint of course... Dave

Larry,
The chart says 901 was used UP to 1967, so I read that as being the correct paint for your tractor. As far as I know, Whitecap White was unique to demonstrators

One of the issues is the fading of paint. My 74 looks very white- where it is not rusty- but that is due to the UV degradation of the paint. I am not very impressed by the IH white paint on the yellow and white tractors. You see faded yellow and faded red which is to be expected with that paint chemistry, but I see a lot of white hoods with rust bleeding through in addition to the chalking.
