I recently changed the oil in my 48 Cub, replaced the oil cartridge and when I went to start it, I could not get any oil pressure reading on my gauge...any ideas what could be my problem?? :help:

You may need to prime the pump. With the filter cover off you will see a hole on the inside of the filter housing. Squirt motor oil in that hole until it comes out. That should do the trick. If not, then let us know. You may have a bad guage or stuck pressure valve. My bet is it just lost prime.

Here is the hole to use to prime it.

If it had oil pressure before you changed the oil, chances are you didn't give it enough time to fill the filter chamber with oil before noticing the lack of oil pressure. You need to give oil enough time to fill that chamber before pressure will register on the gauge. It may take 20 or 30 seconds for that to happen. If that's not the case, follow Barnyard's advise.

i just got mine out of storage, hasn't been run since november and when i started it it wouldn't build pressure. what causes it to lose the prime?

Since it was in storage and then you changed the oil, it could have gotten air in the pickup tube which caused a loss of pump suction.
