I am looking for a new pan seat as mine has rusted though in the center area very badly.......not even connected to the seat post anymore. I have tried searching the forum as I know this was asked before but haven't found what I am looking for....... can I get comments as to everyone else's experience with aftermarket pan seats?

Are you looking for just the plain steel pan seat or an upholstered version? When talking the upholstered style there are several colors available.

I was thinking of an upholstered seat....probably black...not sure if I need the drain hole or not. But I wanted to find out what was the most durable fabric for the seat so haven't locked in on a color just yet.

I can't comment on the best source, but I'd suggest the drain hole. The upholstered seat is a sponge for water. Don't ask how I know. John

The upholstered ones are impossible for me to keep clean on my work tractor. And I had a seat rusted as described above. Cleaned it enough to patch it with the MIG welder and then sprayed several coats of heavy undercoating on the inside. I miss the cushioning effect from before but the results are rather good. And changing to something else is rather easy.

If you have a solid Pan Seat. You can get it upholstered from Darrel. He runs Red Power Magazine. Mine is going down to him as part of my restoration. His price is read is reasonable and from what I hear his work is great also.

I'm posting from my phone or I'd give you the exact URL of the conversation I had. If you search the forum you'll easily find it. It was just a couple if weeks ago.

He said his is rotted through, not connected to the seat post any more. Needs more than fabric. Ed

I had my seat reupholstered. I think it was silver. Beautiful. Left the tractor in the pasture and the horses ate the seat. Now I am back to bare metal.

You know the bare metal isn't too bad. Just saying. Don't know how bad your old one is but if you can weld a plate in it give it a try bare. Maybe my rear end isn't as sensitive as some.

The seat is way beyond repair....I know some that would but I want to buy a replacement upohlstered seat. I know there are a ton of people that have purchased them. Just want an idea of what they thought of the quality of the aftermarket seats. If you have purchased one please let me know what you think about the product you purchased.

I used a plain steel pan seat from a Farmall M on my Cub. It's the same IH part number. Since an M doesn't have the battery beneath the seat, it doesn't have the usual rust pitting on the bottom of it that you find on a Cub seat.

As far as I know, all the aftermarket pan seats are made in the same place, regardless of where you buy it.

Well the only feedback I could find said that the seat from OEM are very good quality......and since I have heard good things about other replacement parts they sell....guess unless some suggests other wise I will be ordering this seat.
