Wigle Hoeing Attachment Photos

Just a few pictures of what I have. The Instruction sheet scan files were too big to post on the forum. I have a few other photos, but given how slow my antique PC is I thought I'd stop with just these. My wife (isn't she great) sent the scans to Rudi so I'm certain they will be available for all to see.

Will this unit install on a Cub properly? I only see notations of an "A". Very interesting piece of equipment.

Brian,

Take a look at this brochure http://www.tm-tractor.com/gbrochures/wiglehoeing.htm on TM's site. It shows mountings for several different tractors, Cub and A included. To answer your question, no, unless you can find/fabricate the needed pieces.

And as Bill said, the trick will be to find the parts. We've known about this particular unit for a number of years now, but this is the first one that has shown up. I imagine some of our awesome fabricators could reproduce the Cub mounting brackets ..... yes :?: :?:

The real problem is historical accuracy. I can make the cub mounting brackets, but hope to have the real sizes opposed to assumptions based on pictures and artist renderings. I do have a possible line on a seat frame unit for measuring -- should know for sure in a couple of weeks.

It is curious to me that these are "rare" as I have seen two complete units and possibly a third (partial for sure) near Philly. Given the two I have seen near where I live are about 20 miles apart and both in family owned nurseries, I wonder if these were advertised in an Ohio or national nursery magazine or mentioned at agrower's convention. None of the units I have seen appeared to be used. They do not appear to be well built --- good for loose soil and small plots not the 100's of acres of packed nursery clay we have around here. Maybe one nursery bought one and the other played copy cat. Then both decided not to use them??? Still the holes in the back of my cub (which came from one the nurseries that had a wigle hoe AND the seat frame) were torn something awful.

Just got a sales flyer from e-bay for the "American Wigle Hoeing Attachment."

Was there a Canadian???
Looking at the picture on this add -- were Canadian cubs left or right hand drive???????

John:

Now that just busts me up :bellylaugh:

Canadian Cubs are identical to American Cubs. I doubt if there really is a hand to a Cultivision tractor.

I have a feeling that the inventor was Canadian but probably moved to the US and that is where it went into production. I haven't seen anything on a Wigle up here at all. Mind you , I am off on the east coast and not in the Marsh area so one never knows.

Be interested to see that ad. Curious also as to what your search string is. I haven't seen anything on the Wigle on :eBay: at all and I have multiple search strings.

Rudi, The patent info I posted in the other thread lists Everett Wigle as being from Ontario. So we can thank you northerners for both the Wigle hoe and the manure spreader. :D

Yup, I saw that. I am wondering if he licensed the rights for production to a US firm or if he actually moved there to build them? Interesting bit of history ..

Not too sure about the manure spreader connection though

That's what I bought, so I guess I don't have to post it. Thanks!

NOTICE THE CUB IN THE UPPER RIGHT. It is the same picture as on the TM advertisement, but clearly shows a wrong handed --CANADIAN Cub for the American Wigle Hoe.

You are right. Does kinda look that way doesn't it? Seems the Steering Support Column is on the wrong side ..... :? Looks like the picture was reversed right to left.
