Brinly Hardy Implements on a Cub?

I have a small BH disc, set of cultivators and moldboard plow, all of which are in good condition........ since they aren't doing any good just sitting around, I figured I would either fabricate a detachable hitch for them and try to put them to use or just sell them and invest the money in the cub. Anyone ever modify the small BH implements to use with a cub? Did they work well? They use the sleeve hitch type attachment like I had on an old simplicity yard tractor. Would I be better off just selling the lot of them and buying implements designed for the cub?

Yes, it will get something you can use, and preserve the implements for their correct use. They are really too light for a Cub's power.

I pull a small (weighted) disk harrow built for 2 wheeled garden tractors and a cut down peg toothed harrow behind a Cub Cadet.

Mounted, bolted, an unused Cub Cadet blade on the bucket of a Case 1816 skid steer. Works great for snow removal.

I'm sure it depends on location and condition but I just sold a Sears Suburban plow complete with coulter and weed rod, and a David Bradley cultivator with all 4 shanks and both depth wheels. Most of the paint was gone on both and they were lightly rusted all over. They sold in a few weeks for $125 each using a Craig's List ad. Spring is the time to sell things like that when people are thinking about their gardens. You live close to Roanoke, right, try listing them in their Craig's List and while your there look for folks selling Cub equipment. Make sure you post good pictures for best results.

Yea, I'd sell them. Brinly Hardy stuff is good equipment, and they bring nice prices with the garden tractor folks. I've never had a problem selling anything BH on Craigslist, and typically they sell for asking price. Unfortunatly, the BH stuff is really a bit too light for a Cub, and the biggest problem is wheel width. All the BH stuff is built for a garden tractor width, about 36-inches, and the cub is around 44-inches wide, so you will always be leaving tire tracks. I'd sell them and keep an eye out for standard Cub implements. They will work much better.

I converted a brinley plow to the 3-pt hitch of my cub just to see if it would pull it!---(It wouldnt!!! not enough power!)---I also did up a 6" bottom from a David-Bradley and it only will pull that one about 4" deep,---I plow 16 to 18 " deep and gotta have serious power to do the job!---Thats why I use the big 1-bottom hi-clearance plow on the IH 706 and run 6 to 7 mph to really break up the ground in the fall!--I do NOT spring plow if I can avoid it! (makes for bad clods here in my ground!) thanks; sonny

Are you talking about a Cub Cadet perhaps? Because a Farmall Cub's plow is bigger than the David-Bradley garden tractor plow and the cub pulls it just fine.

Not if he sinks it 18" into the ground. :big afro:

That would be like tying a poodle to a parked tractor trailer.

Missed that part. Seriously, 16 - 18" down??? I think the implement desired is called a subsoiler not a plow. But what do I know.

My F-Cub has no problem pulling a standard 12" 152 plow, it doesn't seem to have to work too hard at it at all. I believe a 706 would be able to handle a 3 or 4 bottom plow, no? I used to use a 3 bottom behind a 444.

Not if you're plowing 16-18" deep, it won't...

He must have some real deep topsoil where he is. Around here you're well into the subsoil at 12" usually.

I picked up a B/H aereator at the transfer station, bent tongue and minus wheels. Was thinking about making new frame from scrap 4" angle I have with f/h point. Can purchase 5 additional "wheels" and spacers for about 60 dollars. Should work ok if picked up when turning. Finished tool would be about 60 inches wide. Sharp point type, not a plugger. What do you guys think?
