I just scrolled through Messick's 23A parts. Aside from small pieces like nuts and bolts, it looks like the only larger pieces that may be available are the discs, bearings, and spools. You might post in the "wanted forum" and see if anyone has a parts disc. I'll let someone else discuss colors.

Thanks, Bob!
I can make one, if necessary.

I will check into Depot Parts - I'm not familiar with them. Thanks, Jim!

It is essentially a clearing house for discontinued parts. Dealers can send them excess discontinued parts then other dealers can buy from them. Not all dealers participate.

Measure up the old rod. I think you can find something here that will do the job. http://www.mcmaster.com/#bent-anchor-bolts/=klq6ga

Don, Another person mentioned investigating that avenue. That is a good idea, will check it out and let everyone know.
Thanks,

In 1950 my grandfather bought a Cub with several implements including the 23A disc and although it's pertty faded, it definitely red.

Thanks, that confirms my suspicions about color.

I bought a bolt from Fastenol and cut the head off, to make one for mine.
