5/16" - 18 thread with 1/2" hex head cap screw, per parts book.

I have never had a problem removing or replacing the bolt some times you will have to take the coil off , but a short 1/2 in boxed end wrench works fine for me. I do not like to leave it off and will replace it if it is missing.

Just to clear up any confusion here... The correct size bolt is 5/16. That bolt takes a 1/2 inch wrench.

I have been using the same wrench shown by Eugene for many years, that is the only wrench that works for me. and I don not reinstall the back bolt when I remove it now.
