New Tires for my Farmall Cub

Postby Galla Creek Arky » Thu Apr 28, 2005 8:48 pm

Ok, I am showing my stupidity. But I am wondering how much a new set of tires would cost for my Farmall Cub. I have started sanding the paint to restore it. The tires are rotten. Probably the ones that came out new on it. It is a 1957 model. I will need all four tires. I can not get them yet, but am wondering what I will have to pay and where is a good place to find them.

I know I should be able to find that info myself on here, but I looked all through here and could not. Thought one of you pros would know just where I should look.

So...can anyone give me a link to check out 4 new tires for my 57 cub. Best price...best place.

Thanks.

Check out Tucker Tire or Miller Tire on the internet for good deals. Tucker sells on e-bay with a good Buy-it-now price.

The places Bigdog pointed out are both good. But be sure to check with a local farm tire dealer because freight on tires can add considerably to the cost.

I got mine for my 57 Loboy from Tucker Tire. (2)4.00 x 12 with new tubes; (2)8.3? x 24 with new tubes, delivered to my door for a very reasonable price. The amount escapes me right now, but when I got the quote I jumped on it. I think it may have been around 240 or 260 for all 4? They were all Cambridge brand, imports I think. The fronts are on and work great! The rears are still in the barn, when one of the tired/weathered/cracking rears takes a ____, OR, if I ever get the spare time !, I'll put both the new rears on. If it ain't broke yet-don't fix it kinda thing there.

I went all Firestone on My two tractors

Around 500 for the rears and about 250 for the fronts. Including the new tubes and mounting.

I stuck with the original style.

Good luck with it.

Did you really pay $250 for a pair of fronts???? Seems rather high to me.

I did for the front. I got the nice 3 ribs. I think they were around $80 a tire and plus the tubes and mounting. The tubes were around 15 to 20. Now that I think off it just over 200 is closer.

I'll have to look for sure it has been 2 years now scince I restored a cub.

It was about 4 or 5 years I put Firestones on the front. They were $33.75 each and tubes were $7.95. Mounting was included.

Your local Yellow Pages would be the best place to look for tires. Even small Cub tires cost a fortune to ship; they can't be shipped UPS or Fedex because they're too big. Any money you save online will be eaten up, and then some, by freight.

Tucker Tires sells a pair of rear tires with tubes for $204. They charge $50 shipping. Hard to beat a deal like that. They ain't Firestones but you don't have to worry about high-speed failure either. :D :D :D

I paid a similar price as Denny for a pair of Firestone just a couple of years ago.

I got my 2-new front tires + tubes for a total of $60.10 from Tucker-Tires delivered to my door in the boonies on the west coast by FED-EX.
Then came Bronson

I've gotten tires, tubes and what-not from Miller, saved on shipping by picking them up at one of the shows where they set up a booth. Prices are comparible with Tucker. Miller advertises in Red Power Mag with a list of the shows.

I got a set of 3 ribs from a board member that wanted turf tires. Tires are from Thailand and the tubes are from I forget where in Asia. But they were $50 for both. Seem to be soft rubber, but I bet they are made with US molds and will still be on the Cub in 50 years. Originals were Good Year (not in the AG market anymore) and the rears are still pretty good for 34 years old.

For two tractors that would be 125 each for the rears and 62.50 each for the fronts. With tubes and mounting, I would say that is a fair retail price for for Firestones.
