Todd,

My '63 is my only Cub with a deluxe seat. It's steering shaft is about 5 or 6 inches longer.

How would anyone know what common knowledge is? All I know is that I had to drill new holes to move the seat farther back than original. It was easier than shortening the shaft, which I had considered.

Maybe it was when they realized more people were buying them to putt around with a mower rather than leaning over to watch a cultivator?

By the way, the longer shaft is the external indicator of the 24 tooth worm wheel.

My '63 has the deluxe seat and short steering shaft. What steering worm gear would that indicate? Easier or harder steering?
