seat bracket

There is a small 1in by 1/2 in bracket bolted up the seat. the parts book says its a rope something. What is its purpose?
i have a few tractor pics on my site i should have started taking them before i took it apart

It is a place to tie the trip rope for rope operated trailing equipment. In most cases, the tip rope is used to engage a mechanism for raising or lowering an implement via one of implement wheels.

In my case, it holds the rope that operates the valve for the boom sprayer.
