BW:
Neither Art nor Carl had any difficulties with stuff they brought with them over the border from what I have understood. Seems there is never any problem with stuff coming WITH US citizens over the border in Canada. They just nail our butts when we come home .... and of course with the commercial process as well. I probably would not worry about anything that you bring with you.

they whined at me at the border for my 48 cub. seems i failed to declare it when going over. but then, after playing the third degree with me for a bit, the customs guy (US) said that because the farmall was MADE in the
US, no duty would be due on it anyway. wise @$*&
only things they were looking for going into canada was an excess of liqour on board, cause canada taxes it heavy. doesn't seem to reduce consumption, though, go figure

Being a native of Michigan (Canada is in sight and both north and SOUTH of the hospital I was born in) I have crossed the border a bazillion times. A few stories, but nothing like Rudi's.
I bought a snowmobile in Quebec and drove over to Maine to register it (rain on ice, but that's another story) and the guy at US customs was all over the machine trying to find the 'country of origin'. It says made in USA on the head, but it doesn't on the plate!?? Finally he let me go with a 'Passed Customs' stamp on the bill of sale. I keep a copy of it on the machine, but never a question. Obviously, it's not a Ski Doo or Yamaha.
I could not find an answer about farm equipment at the auction, but did not really speak to any of the folks from Quebec. There was tractor trailers loaded up, but I was a bit late picking up the new Cub and did not get a chance to ask other than someone at the dealer who said it is 'not a problem' for farm equipment.

Hi BW
Just thought I would say hi I grew up in Taylor. I don't know if you ever went to Mayfair Auto Parts but that was our family busness their which my grandpa started it went chapter 11 about five years ago. You probally didn't notice but under your headder it says Ri, Newport So I thought you were in Rode Island. Well that make four cubbers within 50 miles we should get together for a plow day or somthing.

Yep, Cowboy... I live in RI and have for a very long time now (with a couple of side trips in VA and TX). My uncle lives in Taylor! Funny thing about Taylor is nearly every house has a pick-em-up. Most of my family is still in MI. I do like the state, but just happened to end up in RI.
I recently told my uncle about my 'little' cub project and he said he nearly bought one up in St Clair, but the guy wanted too much for it. At least he knew exactly what my project was all about.

Hey Cowboy, I don't even know what equipment I have.... just added number two, a RED one, last weekend and it has culivators (appears to be a full set), snow plow and Woods mower. The yellow one (71) has a C-2 mower. No need for a dirt plow just yet.
