Cub 193 plow coulter & fast hitch 194 plow coulter

Postby Marion(57 Loboy) » Thu Apr 14, 2005 7:08 pm

Are the coulters the same or interchangeable?

There is one on my stepdad's 193, don't want to take it off just to find out it won't mount to the pull bar on the loboy.

I got a NOS combonation jointer today and wanna play in the dirt some more and see if I can rub the blue paint off it !! !!

The yoke and blade are the same but there is a specific bracket/clamp that holds it on the pull bar. That is the hard part to come up with.

I don't think it will work, but some others may have a better idea.

Ok what is the problem? Could I make a shorter lift link? Or use a chain to lift? How about if i use the touch control instead of the draw bar lift with the draw bar fastened stiff? If the problem is the draw bar is shifted forward with the brackets, could I fasten the draw bar to the finals with out the bracket? Lord know I want a sweet corn patch. I haven't had one in 3 years.

Bill,

If you bought a Cub 193 plow it won't work on the loboy no - how. I think the biggest and un-adaptable hurdle is the fact you cannot lift it high enough for clearance. Then there is the mounting issue up front...on and on. As they say in new york .......forget about it.......

I think Jim Becker posted at one time that the ONLY plow one can use on a loboy is the Cub 194 single point for fast hitch equipped tractors.

Go to the manual site for good illustrations of the plows and how much they differ. Click on my web link on my post and see the pics of what it looks like on my tractor.

Do you have a fast hitch on your loboy?

Jim Becker, will the fast hitch 2-way work on a loboy??

I just bought a fast hitch for the Low boy from Tom but have not installed it yet. I had hoped to get this years garden in. Because of the new 28 X 28 garage i hav to move the garden. Oh well Gues I got to try to find a cub that I can afford. Problem is if i do then it is a trailer to move it. don't think it will fit in the back of My Dodge 1500 even with the big bed.
Well you win some, you loose some and some are called for rain.

Bill,

Maybe this will help answer your question about a Cub fitting in the back of a pickup.

When I said ONLY the 194, I wasn't thinking about the 2 way plows. The Cub L-F11 2-way should work on a Lo-Boy. I've never seen it tried because you mostly can't find those plows anyway. I have used the Cub L-F194 on a Lo-Boy. Works OK, but not a lot of ground clearance when raised all the way up.

I imagine there is a way to use the older style Cub-193 plow on a Lo-Boy but there will be problems from one end to the other, literally. You would need to somehow reverse the drawbar without it ending up clear up by the engine. If you manage that, then you have nothing to control the depth, with the drawbar now somewhere below the platform. You can't use the original depth lever because there is nowhere to bolt it. If you get past all that, you may not be able to get it out of the ground because of limited clearance below the axle housing. There are reasons IH matched up implements to specific tractor models.

Note that the truck in Don's picture is a 1 ton dually with the long bed and a crew cab.
