i'm replacing the bearing and seal on the output shaft and i have the kind that was staked, what is the best way to restake this shaft , thanks

I had an awful time getting mine to hold. I tried staking it with a cold chiesel and it would still pull out while running my fasthitch Mott mower. I had to put 3 tack weld around the shaft with a mig. Not the best solution but it has held for 3 years now. I hope someone can find a better way.
