Electrolysis Solution

Postby Paul_NJ » Thu Mar 31, 2005 1:08 am

I just dumped my electrolysis tank (after 2 years) - sure was a lot of rust laying on the bottom! I was concerned the iron on bottom might be providing an alternative current path and reducing efficiency. Besides, the big block of ice in my tank just wasn't melting very fast. Now I'm ready to make up the solution and fire it up!

I had used washing soda to make up the original solution, as many of the articles suggested, which I believe is sodium carbonate. A friend told me that a TSP (trisodium phosphate) solution works more effectively, yielding higher currents. I know alot of us use electrolysis for rust removal - does anyone have any experience using TSP based solution?

Paul:

That is all I use and is chronicled in the article Rudi's Electrolysis Tank which is on the Cub Manual Server.

Hi Rudi

Thanks

I sent you a PM with some additional questions. I sometimes can't tell if the PM was delivered or not - I see it in Outbox, but not in my Sent Messages box. That still confuses me. Does that mean it is delivered, or not?

Paul, if it's still in the outbox it has not been sent.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

My wife says I don't listen to her. - - - - - - - - Or something like that!

As Rudi said, message in out box means it's waiting for recipient to read it. Sent box means they have read it.

OK, so Outbox means it has been sent, but not read. I didn't know that - I thought maybe it hadn't been sent and couldn't figure out what I did incorrectly. Thanks - it's happened before and I couldn't figure out why.

I belive that if its in the out box it hasn't been sent. You can't relly tell if it was read unless you ask for a read receipt an they send it back. If I try to send somthing and I loose my connection it sits in the out box untill I reconect then it gets sent and showes up in the sent box.

I just did a little testing to see when the messages changed. Remember the PM system is not like email where you send it over a network to another person. When you type a Personal Message and hit send, it is stored in the memory on the server, and it shows in your outbox. It stays in the outbox until the recipient actually opens the message, then it moves to the sentbox. you can send yourself a message if you want to try it.

I see I was talking about the wrong thing. I was thinking of a regular e-mail sorry.
