rear implements

Postby jmageras » Mon Mar 21, 2005 2:55 pm

First off, this forum is great! Members are very generous with their advice.

I am curious as to how a rear implement, lets say a plow, is mounted and raised on a Cub (nonFast Hitch). I have just purchased a 1951 Cub with a snow plow. It has hydraulics, but there must be some lever/pieces missing for raising a rear implement that is mounted to the drawbar. What is the procedure for mounting and what parts should I be looking for?

Many Thanks again, Jim

Rear mount implements are attached in various combinations of drawbar configurations and for some, the drawbar is removed. Take a look at the link for pictures of various implements and how they are attached.
Rear mount implements are lifted by the rear rockshaft which is attached to the front rockshaft via a connecting rod. You will be able to see it in the pictures.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

I guess it would help if I attached it, huh? The rear mount stuff is near the bottom.

The rock shaft and rear lifting arm are the primary means of elevating implements with the touch control.

You can see this setup in many of the Implement Manuals on the Cub Manual Server. Two of the Implements that come readily to mind are the Cub-144 Cultivator and the Cub-189 Two-Way Moldboard Plow. Course the Cub-193 Moldboard Plow would also apply

As BidgDog said, Tom at TM Tractor Parts has some really good pics on setups as well and are a real boon and when used in conjunction with the Implement Manuals, they seem to make things make sense - to me at least :!:

I looked at the pictures on TM for a sicle bar mower and found that my lowboy has a 22 cub mower not a L22 low boy mower. I always had trouble trying to keep tension on the drive belt. Now I know why. Just got to figure out how to fix it. Seems as time goes on I find the PO was jury rigger. Not good at it but a jury rigger non the less. The best (worst) one was the tapered plugs in it and the lack of power by loss of compression it caused.
