6 volt battery recommendation
I would appreciate any recommendations for a 6-volt replacement battery for my Farmall Cub. Is there much of a difference between the offerings? Thank you, Jim

A group 1 battery.....hmmm. I thought I read somewhere that the size of the group 1 battery had changed a few years ago and that the currently made batteries are a little bit taller and do not allow the lid to fit properly. If this is the case, how does one get a battery to fit?

Most Group 1 6 volt batteries will fit the original box if and only if all the parts you have for the box are the originals. If there has been any substitution by a P.O. (which is rampant), then you may have a problem. That was my problem which is one of the reasons why I had my own Battery Boxes made.
Also, some of the reproduction boxes that are available on eBay may prove to be a bit troublesome in this regard.
However, should you have any arcing problems with the top being too close to the terminals - a good used mouse pad (no longer required for your computer) would go a long way to solving that little problem.
Before I bought a new battery though, take a few measurements - inside height, width and depth - with you. That way you WILL know for sure if it will fit

jmageras, your local NAPA store also has an excellent 6V commercial grade Gp 1 replacement battery for your Cub. I had a problem with one..wouldn't hold charge after two years... and NAPA exchanged it for very little difference and no hassles.
