I've had to weld every one I've ever worked on. Just think how much strain is on that point when the tank is full! I prefer to weld them with O.A.
Now think about all the Cubs that are badly broken up in that area and also have the brackets missing from the front. It's a wonder the tanks stay in place.

George I know what you mean I had to fab up a new bracket for the hood.I went back and cleaned the weld up after I took the pix the Mig welder works fine for me George I don't have an OA torch set .Steve
