Spent this evening welding up the dash. It had several stress cracks at the Base. Image

I think all of mine have either been repaired or are still cracked.

Steve,

I've had to weld every one I've ever worked on. Just think how much strain is on that point when the tank is full! I prefer to weld them with O.A.

Now think about all the Cubs that are badly broken up in that area and also have the brackets missing from the front. It's a wonder the tanks stay in place.

Bud The cracks were too long to reuse without the repair. Steve

I did the same welds on my dash hood support and also the front hood bracket. I also welded a washer on the back side of dash where the throttle rod hole is to make it round again.
Then came Bronson

I don't think that I've EVER seen a working Cub (not restored) that didn't have cracks in the dash SOMEWHERE  ! It's just the nature of the design vs. the stress on it from years of use  !
