Hydraulics

Postby Brent » Tue Mar 15, 2005 9:43 am

:? I just bought a set of hydraulics from JP Salvage. Can I remove the hand lift lever and use the existing rear rock shaft or do I need a different one?

Brent,

It was common to modify the hand lift rockshaft when converting to hydraulics. It can even be done while retaining the helper spring. I think I have one that was so modified, but I'm sure John P. has one like it in regular service.

I use a touch control unit AND a hand lift rear unit. This allows me to use front and rear implements indepent of each other.
I can cultivate and not leave tracks at the end of the row when the rear gang lifts with the front . Also I can have a lay-off plow on the rear and disk hillers on the front to lay-off then cover potatos and other crops.

Best,
Mike
