John sent a pair of those down here with Missy when I put her together. They show some wear, have some cracking, and are hard due to old age. John is not very happy with them; rough ride.
Mike, fetch your Nov/Dec issue of RED POWER MAGAZINE and turn to page 27.

tire and rim sizes
This is in reply to Jim Beckers' post where he asked where I measured to determine rim width. Jim, I measured at the widest part of the riim and it measures 77/8 inches. This is so close to 8 inches, I thought I had an 8 inch rim. What does a standard 7 inch rim measure? Is the 7 inch rim the one IH calls a W7-24 ?

Paul, measure rim width at the insides of the bead flanges. It sounds like you have 7" rims and the W7-24 indicates a 7" wide, 24" diameter rim.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Mike,
Don't get too hung up on the tread pattern on the '47. As far as I know, IH bought tires from all 3 majors, used them interchangeably and did so for years. The '47 brochure/mailer has illustrations of tractors with all three:
Firestone: closed center tread, with curved bars.
BF Goodrich: open center tread with straight bars, alternating long and short.
Goodyear: open center tread with straight bars, all the same length.
